Everyone shares scripture today, via email, text, and the internet.
Can you recall your top 5 shared scriptures?
It seems most shares differ depending on where you live across the globe. The top choice could be based on the driving need in those particular areas, as to why people are sharing scripture.
What is your motivation when you share scripture?
- To encourage others
- To spread the Good News
- To offer hope to the hopeless
- To help strengthen a believer
- All of the above
Scripture is shared across the globe for these reasons and more. Here are the top 5 shared scriptures of 2015 according to Christianity Today.
Did yours make this list?
#1-Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
There are many of us who have difficulty trusting people. Praise the Lord, we can trust Him in all ways and He will make our path straight.
#2- Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
We desire peace in our lives, no matter where we live. By giving our situations over to God we can experience that peace with the mind of Christ in us. Tell Father, pour out your heart, that His peace may guard it.
#3- Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
You know someone who’s discouraged, it seems we all do. It may even be you. Do not be afraid my friend, God commands us to be strong and courageous —for He is with us.
#4- Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
The world pulls us in many directions. God calls us to turn from the patterns offered by the world and to be transformed by renewing our mind, our thinking according to His will.
#5- Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The overflowing of joy plants such a beautiful picture in my mind. This is a scripture of encouragement to all who meditate on it.
The one scripture shared more than any across the world in 2015:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NIV
With the changes of 2016, I’ll be interested in seeing which scripture ranks number one for this year.
May the peace of Father guide your heart as you consider sharing His truth with a loved one, friend, and stranger —to God be the glory!
