Do you stand ready with outstretched arms?
There are some mornings when the crisp cool air forces my arms to wrap around my body. This self-hug recaptures the warmth fast escaping through the cloud of breath leaving my mouth.
Opening my arms at this point would be illogical. I’m protecting myself, maintaining my body heat —surviving.
Yet, with built up faith I can stand… arms outstretched ready for God’s covering of mercy to warm my soul against the chill of the world.
But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!” Jude 1:20-21 MSG
We’re told to pray in the Holy Spirit to build up our “most holy faith.”
Praying in the Spirit is recognizing God’s agenda over my own. His way, His will, and His timing. Releasing any boxed-notion of Who God is and replacing it with a deeper knowing, that only comes from the Holy Spirit in me.
O Lord, open my eyes to Your will. Create in me the desire to hear only Your truth. Increase my faith in the knowing of Who You are via the Spirit within me. May I stand ready each day, arms outstretched in the center of Your love. To God be all glory and honor. Hallelujah. Amen.
