What does everlasting love look like to you?
As a child, I envisioned “forever and ever” with an open heart. When life was good I wanted it to stay that way. When times got tough, I wanted it to go away, quickly.
Yet, an everlasting possibility eluded my thinking.
Truly a life of happily ever after only occurs in the movies. Prince Charming and his white horse, charging in to save the day works on the big screen but not in my little world.
As a teenager, the thought of someone loving me so much and for always drew my vulnerable heart in. I really wanted that. A love that had no boundaries. A love that was good and perfect.
Promises were made to me by human hearts, young and then again, not so young hearts —and they all came with agendas.
Try as I might not to be drawn in, I was. I really wanted to be loved! But this kind of love just brought pain. The silently-weeping-in-darkness kind of pain.
Can you relate?
It wasn’t until I met my Prince of princes that everlasting made sense.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3 NIV
Everlasting is a love only my Creator can provide.
I pray for you and all your experiencing right now that you hold tight to our Everlasting Father. Allow His unfailing kindness to gently wipe away tears, and bring joy back into your times of sorrow and suffering.
In Christ alone we find hope everlasting and our happily ever after.
Praise You, Lord. Thank You for Your kindness. Thank You for being my Prince of Peace and my All in all. Your mercies are new every morning and Your ways, though not mine, are true. I love You, Abba. Amen.
Hugs in Him… Linda
