How Fit is Fit-Enough?
There was a time in my life when I worked out six days a week, three hours a day. 10% body fat, toned and feeling great! By focusing on my physical fitness I got the results I was aiming for.
My spiritual life, on the other hand, reflected less than desirable results. But then, you get what you focus on, right?
Fabulous fitness can only be accomplished by focusing on God’s desires, not our own.
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. (1 Timothy 4:8 NIV)
I’ve been on a five-year physical fitness sabbatical… and it shows, lol! I have more fat than I like and less energy than I prefer.
Yet… I’m okay with me and I feel good!
How is it possible to be good with not being great?
I took God at His Word… I found myself becoming more spiritually focused by seeking His will, His way, and His timing.
There is truth to be found in giving your focus over to His desire for your life… a fulfilled present life and hope for the one to come.
This doesn’t mean I pay no attention to my physical body, I do… More today than yesterday, and I’m finding a balance that works.
I pray for you… A balanced life that is depending more on what God desires for you than what you desire for yourself. To Him be the glory. Amen
